the very honourable to sir John Sparrow David Thompson , C.P., C.R., K.C.M.G (born the November 10th 1845, deceased the December 12th 1894) was the 4th Prime Minister of Canada of the December 5th 1892 with the December 12th 1894. He was also Prime Minister for the Nova Scotia in 1882.
Born with Halifax, in Nova Scotia, Thompson married Annie Affleck (1845 - 1913) in 1870 and together they had two wire and three girls, four other children dying in very low age.
The family life of Thompson was marked by the tragedy. His/her Annie daughter died at the one year age, while its young person David sons reached only the two years age. Two other children of Thompson died as of the birth. Five other children survived childhood.
Of 1878 with 1882, John Thompson was Minister for justice at the provincial government of Simon H. Holmes. He was briefly Prime Minister for the Nova Scotia, but its government was demolishes in the held election this year. It was named with the Supreme court of Nova Scotia after having left the provincial legislature. When Sir John A. Macdonald recruited it for its government with Ottawa, he quickly became an eminent member of the conservative government. He carried out the first criminal Code of Canada. Its rise within the government is probably ascribable as much to the influence of Ishbel Aberdeen, the woman of the General governor, that with the protection of Macdonald.
Preceding the Prime Minister, Sir John Abbot, wanted to yield his station to Thompson, but religious prejudices against the catholic , generalized in the Protestant population mainly , prevented Abbott from doing it, and that was pushed back until the retirement of Abbott in 1892.
Sir John Thompson had been Prime Minister of Canada for only two years when he died suddenly of one heart attack at the 49 years age the December 12th 1894, with the Château of Windsor, where the Reine Victoria had just done it member of its private Council. It was the second of two Prime Ministers to die in the performance of its duties (the first was Sir John A. Macdonald), and the first of three to die out of Canada. (The two others were Sir Charles Tupper and Richard Bedford Bennett.)
It was buried with the cemetery Holy Cross with Halifax, in Nova Scotia, after funeral worked out in England, assembled by the Victoria Queen.
