John Sparkman

John Jackson Sparkman (1899 - 1985) was a politician, American senator of Alabama and democratic candidate with the vice-presidency of the United States in 1952.

John Sparkman was born the December 20th 1899 in Alabama in a family from farmer.

Graduate in 1921 of the university of Alabama and the school of right of Tuscaloosa in 1923, it is allowed with the bar in 1925.

Sparkman enters in policy while being made elect in 1936 with the Chambre of the Representatives of the United States under the colors of the Democratic party.

In 1946, it joined the senate where it will sit without stopping until its retirement the January 3rd 1979.

In 1952, he is the democratic fellow candidate of Adlai Stevenson with the presidential election to which they are severely beaten by the republican ticket carried out by Dwight Eisenhower.

John Sparkman died the November 16th 1985 in Alabama.
