John Sebastian

John Sebastian , born the March 17th 1944 with Greenwich Village (New York), is a Chanteur, Guitariste and American Compositeur of Folk Rock. He was the leader of the group The Lovin' Spoonful, he then continued a career in solo.

Biography

His/her father was a player of known harmonica, its youth had thus passed in a musical environment with the meeting of many musicians like Woody Guthrie and listens to it Blues men Leadbelly and the Mississippi John Hurt which came in its district for concerts.

It belonged to the groups “Even Dozen Jug Band” and “Mugwumps” which gave place to Lovin' Spoonful and The Mamas & the Papas. John was joined by Zal Yanovsky and Joseph Campbell Butler to form Lovin' Spoonful (named according to a song of the Mississippi John Hurt).

After the separation of Lovin' Spoonful, John Sebastian made a career in solo, occurring at the time of concerts, within the framework of festivals (of which Woodstock in 1969) or in auditorium municipal, and even in gymnasia. He also took part in many recordings of other artists.

One can have an idea in his concerts thanks to the album Cheap-cheapo productions present Real Live John Sebastian . It takes again pieces of Lovin' Spoonful (" Younger Girl ", " My Gall " , " Nashville Cats " , " Did you ever cuts to make up your mind " and " Lovin' You ") or of traditional like " Goodnight Irene " and " Waiting for has train ". With " Happy Harmonica " , it shows that as his/her father it is an excellent player of harmonica.

More recently he played with a group called “John Sebastian and the J-Band”.
