John Quincy Adams

Locunolé is a common department of the Finistere, in the area Brittany, in France. Its inhabitants name the Locunolois and the Locunoloises .

Etymology

Locunolé comes from old man-Breton the " loc" place devoted and of Holy Guénolé founder of the abbey of Landevennec. Locunolé is mentioned for the first time in 1426 pennies the Locguenolay form. Locunolé seems well to be the " quartier" or tref Uuinguiri , given to the abbey of Landévennec by the king Gradlon and located, by the act which reports it in XIe century, da the parish of Niuliac… The name of tref Uuinguiri disappeared, replaced by that of Locunolé, starting from XIe century…

History

  • XVIIe

1667: Locunolé, hitherto simple priory dependant on Rome, is set up in parish depending on the diocese of Quimper.
  • XVIIIe

1790: Locunolé, is set up in commune and is attached to the department of Morbihan lately created.
  • XIXe

1857: The commune of Locunolé is attached to Finistere. Locunolé, only made up of 7 villages, 3 mills and of a manor appendix 20 villages of Querrien to be able to become a parish of full exercise.
