John Proctor
John Proctor (1632 - 1692) was a farmer and a restorer in the Massachusetts. During the lawsuit of the Sorcières of Salem he was shown of sorcery, was considered and hung.
John Proctor was born in Assington in the Suffolk in England. His/her father was also called John Proctor (1595-1672) and his mother Martha Harper (1607-1659). They started from London the April 12th 1635 with their Mary child, on board the Susan and Ellen to join the Colonie of bay of Massachusetts. After a voyage of a little more than two months, Proctor settled with Ipswich, in the County of Essex, a colony which had been created in 1633. Six other children were born then.
Arthur Miller made of John Proctor a central figure of his play the witches of Salem ( The Crucible ).
