John Mr. Armleder

John Mr. Armleder , Swiss artist born with Geneva in 1948.

Internationally recognized, the work of John Mr. Armleder is before a whole test of transformation of the statute of the work of art on the level of its perception and its reception. The complexity of the relations which a work can maintain with various mediums and interactions that it causes are in the center of the step of the artist.

In 1969, John Armleder founds the Groupe Variation with other artists close to Fluxus. Their ambition is to control all the phases of the artistic production: creation with the presentation and the diffusion of works. The performances which it puts in scene at the time will influence its practice which plays of the integration and the disturbance of the places.

From this frame of mind, John Armleder withdraws a certain distance and its artistic activity

  • , based on a certain irony, feels some. It develops the first geometrical abstract paintings, free formal.
Compared to the tendency Néo-géo, it carries out parts between sculpture and painting, the Furniture-sculpture. The references and the loans with the history of art are clearly acknowledged.

Its work, readily multiple and apparently disordered falls under various practices. Apparent irony, detachment and indifference offer tracks to the apprehension of this work but also a great jubilation. The intelligence, the subtlety and the control of the conditions which it itself stated allow all the possible bounces the artist.
