John Miers

John Miers is a Botaniste and a British Engineer , born the August 25th 1789 and dead the October 17th 1879.

He works and travels in South America of 1819 to 1838. Miers describe many S of this continent. He is member of the Royal Society in 1843.

He is in particular the author of:

Travels in Chile and Plata, etc (two volumes, London, 1826).
Illustrations off South American seedlings (London, 1846).
Contributions to Botany, iconographic and descriptive, detailing the characters off seedlings that are either new gold imperfectly described, etc (three volumes, London, 1851 - 1871).

John Lindley (1799-1865) dedicates the to him Miersia of Alliaceae in 1826.
