John Miers
John Miers is a Botaniste and a British Engineer , born the August 25th 1789 and dead the October 17th 1879.
He works and travels in South America of 1819 to 1838. Miers describe many S of this continent. He is member of the Royal Society in 1843.
He is in particular the author of:
- Travels in Chile and Plata, etc (two volumes, London, 1826).
- Illustrations off South American seedlings (London, 1846).
- Contributions to Botany, iconographic and descriptive, detailing the characters off seedlings that are either new gold imperfectly described, etc (three volumes, London, 1851 - 1871).
John Lindley (1799-1865) dedicates the to him Miersia of Alliaceae in 1826.
