John McNair Babbitt
honourable the John Babbitt McNair , D.C. (born the November 20th 1889, deceased the June 14th 1968) was a lawyer, judge and Politician néo-brunswickois. He is initially elected with the legislative Assemblée of New Brunswick in 1935 and serves as prosecutor-general within the government of the Prime Minister Dysart and as a president of the Liberal party of New Brunswick. He loses his seat in 1939 but returns in 1940, succeeding Dysart as a chief of the party and Prime Minister. McNair was Prime Minister during 12 years, until the defeat of its government in 1952, after which it turns over to the practice of the right. In 1955 it is named judge as a chief of New Brunswick and becomes Lieutenant-governor of the province in 1965.
In 1967 it is made Compagnon of the Ordre of Canada.
