John Lambert

John Lambert (1619 - 1684) served like Général in the parliamentary army at the time of the First revolution English.

When the Parlement tail is re-established with the retirement of Richard Cromwell, Lambert off becomes member of the Committee Safety and of the Council off State .

In November 1659, Lambert is sent with strong troops to go to the meeting of George Monk, which was with the command of the English forces in Scotland. Lambert was to negotiate with him or to force it to subject to the will Parliament. With the support of Thomas Fairfax, Monk manages however to take the direction of the south. The army of Lambert disaggregates vis-a-vis the pressures of Monk and that one almost only returns to London, the majority of its soldiers having deserted. Monk thus goes on London without any opposition. In March 1660, Lambert is imprisoned in the Tour of London.
