John Harvey Kellogg

John Harvey Kellogg , born the February 26th 1852 and dead the December 14th 1943, is an American doctor, who made a medical use of holistic methods, while focusing itself particularly on the Nutrition, the Lavement S and the Exercice. It is known in particular for the invention of the Corn flakes.

Biography

Born with Tyrone in 1852, it follows its family to Battle Creek, with the Michigan, about 1860, when his/her father establishes a factory there. Later, he works like apprentice printer in a publisher of the city. He obtains his diploma in medicine at the University of New York.

He marries Ella Ervilla Eaton (1853-1920), in 1879, without having children of them. They however raise it forty, including seven adopted legally.

He dies in 1943 and rests with the cemetery of Battle Creek.

The Sanatorium of Battle Creek

It becomes famous thanks to the sanatorium of Battle Creek, which it establishes on the principles of the adventist of the seventh day. The food was Végétarien and accompanied by many exercises. When a patient was not cured by this mode, Kellogg removed surgically to them part of the Intestin S.

Cereal lunches

It creates with his brother Will Keith Kellogg a cereal production company about 1897: the breakfast being composed of eggs and meat. The poor ate Porridge, flour, Gruau. Arguments are born between the brothers on the addition from sugar with cereals, and in 1906, Will creates the company which since became the Kellogg's company, Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flake Company, competed with by the Battle Creek Food Company, rested by John.

Kellogg is a burning militant against all the forms of sexuality. It recommends extreme methods against the Masturbation: among boys the Circumcision without Anesthesia of which the short pain will have a salutary effect on the spirit; in the girls, the carbolic application of acid on the Clitoris is a excellent means of preventing any abnormal excitation .

He also proclaimed that the masturbation was the source of the Acné.
