John Griggs Thompson
John Griggs Thompson is a Mathématicien American born the October 13rd 1932 in the Kansas (E. - U.).
It received its Bachelor off Arts with the Université of Yale in 1955 and its doctorate with the Université of Chicago in 1959 pennies the direction of Saunders Mac Lane.
It went then to the Université of Cambridge in 1970 then to the University of Florida. He is currently professor emeritus in Mathématiques at the University of Cambridge and mathematics professor at the University of Florida.
He is particularly known for his work concerning the finished Groupes. He is regarded as a key figure in the advance of the classification of the simple finished groups. He also contributed a share major in the opposite problem of Welsh.
He received the Médaille Fields in 1970.
