John Fisher

Holy John Fisher (or Jean Fisher in French), born towards 1469 with Beverley and deceased in 1535 with London, was a catholic monk and Théologie British N.

Humanistic, chancellor of the University of Cambridge in 1504, he became bishop of Rochester same the année.
Very skilful in the theological controversy and questions, it defended with zeal the Catholicisme and was highly opposed to the divorce of the king Henri VIII with Catherine d' Aragon. The monarch made it condemn to dead and he was thus decapitated in 1535, whereas he had just been named cardinal by the Pape.
He was canonized in 1935. It is celebrated the June 22nd.
