John (Toland) Dillinger , born the June 22nd 1903, deceased the July 22nd 1934, was a famous gangster and American hold-up man of banks during the Grande depression.

Native of Indianapolis, he becomes gang leader and makes flights through the Indiana and the Illinois. He is wire of agricultural owners and thus with the shelter of the need.

But John Dillinger has the organized crime in blood.

Captured in Arizona and brought back to the prison of Crown Not, he escapes from prison in the car of the Shérif and becomes the public enemy number one according to FBI.

The legendary character of its criminal acts makes of him a true American myth, that the popular legend compares to Robin of Wood.

The July 22nd 1934, it is cut down in the Lincoln Park of Chicago in the presence of his/her girlfriend Polly Hamilton, after being gone to see the film " The public enemy number one " (Manhattan Melodrama). According to information of the F.B.I. Dillinger had been denounced by Anna Cumpanas, owner of a brothel.

According to the film " Dillinger & Cappone" , he would have died on August 5th, 1976 in a farm near Bakersfield at the 73 years age under the name of John Dalton.

Today, its fans celebrate the day of his death and devoted call in question the fact that he is really assassinated. A " group; mathcore" took as a starting point its Dillinger family name to create the group The Dillinger Escape Plan, straight left the New Jersey.
