John Davidson Godman is a Naturaliste and a American anatomist , born the December 20th 1794 with Annapolis and dead the April 17th 1830 with Germantown.

Wire of the captain Samuel Godman and Anna born Henderson. It obtains its doctorate of Médecine to the Université of Maryland in 1818.

It Marie with Angelica Kauffman Peale the October 6th 1821. He exerts initially medicine with New Holland in Pennsylvania before settling in a village close to Baltimore.

He gives courses of Anatomie and Physiologie to Philadelphia. He becomes then professor of Chirurgie at the medical school of the Ohio to Cincinnati. He directs then the school of anatomy of Philadelphia before teaching the anatomy at the medical school Rutgers of New York. He withdraws himself in Germantown in Pennsylvania.

He directs the first numbers of the review Quarterly Reports off Medical, Surgical and Natural Science (1822) which is the first review of medicine appearing in the west of the mountains Allegheny. He is in particular the author of Anatomical Invertigations (1824), American Natural History (three volumes, 1826-1828) and Rambles off has Naturalist (1833).
