John Cooper Clarke (born on January 25th, 1949) is a British poet occurring on scene, originating in Salford in the Grand Manchester. One often presents it like a poet Punk, because its career started at the end of the Seventies in the middle of the punk explosion.

Biography

Clarke was accompanied musicalement by The Invisible Girls, with like members the producer Martin Hannett, Pete Shelley of The Buzzcocks, Bill Nelson, Paul Burgess and Steve Hopkins. It made the first part of groups like The Sex Pistols, The Fall, Joy Division, The Buzzcocks, Elvis Costello, of the American round of Rockpile, in 1979. More recently, it opened for Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros (ex- The Clash). Its poem Out off Control Fairground was printed in the interior cover of Cd-individual of the Arctic Monkeys " Fluorescent Adolescent" in 2007.

Its spectacle is made energetic declamations and very rapids of its poems. Called in the press " the bard of Salford " , it presents itself on scene as a " Johnny Clarke, the guy behind the haircut ". These last years, its spectacle approached the comedy stand-up .

Its 45 turns " Gimmix! Play Loud" and the album corresponding " Snap, Crackle & Bop" were classified in the English hit-parade with the turning of years 70/80. It also appears on the album Short Circuit Live At The Electric Circus (25 cm, 1978) at the sides of The Fall, Joy Division, The Drones, Steel Pulse and The Buzzcocks and on Urgh! In Music War, the album-concert of 1980. It made two appearances in publicities for the confectioneries Sugar Puffs in 1988.

During the Eighties, Clarke fought against a habituation with heroin. He lived with the singer Nico during this period.

Its title Evidently Chickentown , drawn from the album Snap, Crackle & Bop was used for the last scene of an episode of the series the Sopranos ( Stage 5 ). It déclame the same poem in a scene of the film Control , where he plays his own part of first part of a concert of Joy Division. It appeared with the festival of the antipodes Big Day Out in 2007.

He would live from now on in the Comté of Essex (England).
