John C. Mather
John C. Mather is a Astrophysicien and a American Cosmologiste born in 1945, currently posts some with the center of space flight Goddard of NASA. It obtained the Nobel Prize of physics jointly with George Fitzgerald Smoot in 2006 for its contribution to discovered nature of black Corps of the cosmological diffuse Fond.
Biography
John C. Mather obtained his Doctorat in 1974 with the the University of California to Berkeley. He integrates the same year the center of Goddard space flight as a post-doctoral researcher, then as a titular researcher. He belongs to the group of people who will propose with NASA the satellite project of COBE, which will be accepted and finally launched fine 1989.
John C. Mather was responsible for the instrument FIRAS satellite COBE. This instrument had the role of measuring with precision the spectrum cosmological Fond diffuse , , which was worth in Mather to be seen decreeing the Nobel Prize of physics in 2006.
John C. Mather is member of the National Academy off Sciences since 1997 and of the American Academy off Arts and Sciences since 1998. He is from now on one of the persons in charge of the project of Space telescope James Webb. He is author of a work, The Very First Light , reporting the adventure of the implementation of satellite COBE and his implications for the Cosmologie (see Biographie below).
