John Bowden Connally
John Bowden Connally, Jr. (February 27th 1917 - June 15th 1993) was a politician of the the United States who was member, during its political life, of the Democratic party and the Republican party.
After having obtained a diploma of right of the university of Texas, Connally is useful during the Second world war after which he becomes assistant of Lyndon Johnson, then young elected official of the Texas and with which he maintained close links when Johnson practiced the right to Texas.
In 1961, President John F. Kennedy names Connally Secretary of State to the navy. Connally resigns after 11 months to become governor of Texas, function which it occupies until in 1969. The November 22nd 1963, Connally is seriously wounded whereas it is in the car of President Kennedy at the time of the assassination of this one with Dallas, Texas.
President Richard Nixon names Connally Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury in 1971, function which it occupies until in 1972.
In 1973, it joined the Republican party. It tries in 1980 to obtain the republican nomination for the presidential elections. He dies the June 15th 1993.
His wife, Nellie died on September 1st 2006. She was the last passenger of the Limousine of the events of Dallas still in life after the death of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in 1994
