John Blackwell
John Blackwell , beater black American, was born with Columbia (South Carolina) on September 9th, 1973.
Wire of John Blackwell Senior, very recognized beater, it grew in a very musical family where it received its first kit of battery at the 3 years age. It very often accompanied his father in the clubs where it played. At the time of its higher learning, he played in the brass band of his school, and played the weekends with the group Robert Newton & Lotusfete, like with Billy Eckstine.
To hear its play very to see funky, and it playing (it makes often turn its rods while playing) are a pleasure as much for the ears that for the eyes.

Only one shade in the table, the tragic death of his/her daughter Jia Kennie, who drowned at the 2 years and 4 months age. Immense sorrow is imagined that was. One can see besides on his (large) arm, a tattooing saying “4ever Jia”.
It is only and single time where he thought of stopping playing, which he did for one month, but he quickly went back behind his instrument, pushed by his friends, and in the memory of Jia which adored to hear his/her father play.
Following this drama, a bottom was created by John Blackwell and his wife, within the prestigious Berklee music school, where he had studied, in order to help of the musicians to be able to continue musical studies in spite of financial problems: The Jia Kennie Blackwell Memorial Scholarship Fund.
