Johann Zimmermann Jacob

Johann Jacob Zimmermann (1644-1693) was a Théologien German nonconformist, millenarist, Mathématicien and Astronome.

Born with Vaihingen in Wurtemberg, he was minister Luthérien of Bietigheim. He was made disciple of Boehme and published a mystical work, almost complete Révélation of the Antichrist , who made him lose his ministry. He wandered then, preaching and making proselytes in the United Provinces and in Germany.

Distinguished astronomer (it produced one of the cartographic first projections of the northern Hemisphere in 1692), it occupied four years a pulpit of mathematics to Heidelberg, passed then to Hamburg, then with Rotterdam.

He died at the time to embark for the America with his disciples.

  • Muthmassliche Zeit-Bestimmung , where he predicts the end of time for the autumn 1694, according to a numerologic interpretation of the book of the Apocalypse.
