Johann Valentine Andreae

Johann Valentine Andreae , or Johannes Valentinus Andreae , or Johannes Valentinus AndreƤ (1586 - 1654) is a German theologist , author of the book Chymische Hochzeit Christiani Rosenkreutz ass 1459 ( the Weddings Chymiques de Christian Rosenkreutz ) published in 1616 with Strasbourg.

The Fama Fraternitatis and the Confessio Fraternitatis , this book takes into account among the three which made known the existence of the fraternity of the Rosicrucian brotherhood to the public.

Biographical elements

Andrea studied with the seminar of Tubingen. It acquired a rare culture in the old and modern languages, mathematics, the natural science, the history, the geography, the genealogy and theology. It left a considerable work.

It was also an accomplished rider. It is subject to the influence of Jean Arndt (1555-1621), large mystical preacher, and of his/her friends, of Tobias Hesse (1568-1614) Christophe Besold and Wilhelm Wense, whose life wanted to be an imitation of Jesus-Christ and who formed together an influential circle said " ring of Tubingen".

These supposed " Rose-Croix" , or inspirers of the rosicrucianism preached, against dogmatism and the ritualism of the Church, the need for a life very of spirit and love, uprightness, the fight against the bad tendencies, the integrity of the spirit, the austerity of manners, charity, justice, affirming that only a holy life allows the entry in the human heart of the Holy Spirit which links the man with God and confers its gifts to him.
