Johann Jakob Walther
Johann Jakob Walther (1650 with Wittererda close to Erfurt - November 2nd 1717 with Mainz) was a Violoniste and German Compositeur.
Its life
All that we know of him was transmitted to us by “Musikalischen Lexikon” published in 1732 by Johann Gottfried Walther, which was cousin of Johann Sebastian Bach.Between 1670 and 1674; it would have remained in Florence as violonist employed with the ducal vault of Cosme III of Médicis. As from 1674, he was Master in concert at the court from Saxony, in Dresden. In 1680, after the death of the sovereign, it devont secretary in Italian of the court near the archbishop and Prince-Voter of Mainz, and canon.
J.J.Walther was with Johann Paul von Westhoff and Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber undoubtedly one of the most significant violonists of Germany at the XVIIe century. Its compositions make place with a technique of play virtuoso (doubles cords jusq' in 4th position and arpeggios) like to a large variety of forms, in particular in the development of the low stubborn person.
Its work
Two collections are especially known:- " Scherzi da Violino solo cin it basso continuo" published in 1676. In this collection, it adopts already certain technical features in Paganini, such as dee pizzicatos imitating the play of the toothing-stone or the features of bow which tend to imitate the song of the nightingale.
- " Hortus chelicus" 1688 (free translation: the garden violonistic ). In the foreword of this édoté collection on account of author, it announces its pride as for its parts with success, and that it publishes without fear what many of its contemporaries egoistically keep for themselves This recuil contains 20 parts and it is varied more than the precedent.
