Johann Hieronymus Chemnitz

The reverend Johann Hieronymus Chemnitz is a man of the church and a German conchyliologist , born in 1730 and died in 1800.

He continues the work of Friedrich Wilhelm Martini (1729-1778), Neues systematisches Conchylaceous-Cabinet . Chemnitz adds to three volumes previously published eight new volumes in 1779 and 1795. Although the two authors do not use the binomial system, they are regarded as the authors of many S which they appear. Chemnitz uses many specimens drawn from the Cabinet of curiosities of the king of Denmark whose conservative is Lorenz Spengler (1720-1807).

Chemnitz starts to gather a collection of shells divided before collecting whole shells. Its Master and guard are Christian Hee Hwass (1731-1803).
