Johann Christoph Pezel
Johann Christoph Pezel is a musician originating in Silesia (* December 5th 1639 with Glatz - † October 13rd 1694 with Bautzen)
Biography
It probably made its studies with the college of Bautzen. He was at the same time type-setter and instrumentalist. He played in the municipal brass band several towns of Germany. During most of its career, it was Ratmusiker (musician of the city); to be member of such a fraternity was then an envied position. He finishes in 1669 by being promoted with the row of Stadtpfeifer (player of fifre). It was held to play at the time of all the official ceremonies, like in the civil and religious festivals. The Stadtpfeifer was to be an excellent musician, able to play not only of all coppers, but also of string instruments.
