Johann Christoph Bach (* Erfurt on June 16th 1671 - † Ohrdruf on February 22nd 1721)

Organist and German Type-setter. Second wire of Johann Ambrosius Bach, and brother of Johann Sebastian. It made its studies at the Latin School of Eisenach of 1681 to 1685 and goes then to Erfurt where, after having followed the teaching of Johann Pachelbel, it is named organist with the Thomaskirche .

Johann Christophe replaces then his large uncle, Heinrich, become blind, with Arnstadt in 1689 and 1690. From 1690, he is organist of the Michaeliskirche of Ohrdruf. October 23rd, 1694 he marries Johanna Dorothea vom Hofe which will give him 8 children. After the death of his father, it collected during 5 years his famous younger brother and was his professor of Clavecin.

During its twenty last years, it will alternate, always with Ohrdruf, the control of the organ with the trade of schoolmaster.
