Johann Büttikofer

Johann Büttikofer (1850 - 1929) is a Zoologiste Suisse. It was born with Ranflüh in the valley from Emmental and studied the Biologie with Bern. In 1879, it joined the team of the “ Royal Zoological Museum ” of Leyde, of which it is preserving of 1884 to 1897.

It takes part in two forwardings with the Liberia, the first between 1879 and 1882, the second of 1886 to 1887. In 1893-94, it accompanies that by Nieuwenhuis in the center of Borneo.

From 1897 to 1924, he was director of the Zoological garden of Rotterdam. With its retirement, it settles in Bern.
