Johan Stensson Rothman
Johan Stensson Rothman is a Médecin and a Naturaliste Swedish, born with Växjö the February 24th 1684 and deceased with Växjö the July 20th 1763.
He studies with Harderwijk and Leyde where he follows the courses of Hermann Boerhaave (1668-1738). After having obtained its diploma for the occupation of doctor of medicine with Harderwijk, in 1713, he becomes the doctor of the Comté of Kronoberg, in 1718, then sign the Natural history at the university of Växjö, starting from 1720. It is influenced by work of Sebastien Vaillant (1669-1722) on the sexuality of the plants to which it initiates one of his former students, Carl von Linné (1707-1778). He is married with Anna Elisabeth Rothman. His/her son is the botanist Göran Rothman (1739-1778), translator of Voltaire (1694-1778) and of Alexander Pope (1688-1744), and who will study at Linné.
