Johan Alexander Santana Araque (born the March 13rd 1979) is a left-handed launcher of the major Ligue of baseball which evolves/moves at the Twins of Minnesota since 2000. After having supplemented 4 seasons as launcher of statement (117 played parts including 41 started parts) it became launcher therefore. At the time of its first season it gained the Trophée Cy Young with 20 lost victories for 6, a Moyenne of deserved points of 2,61 and 265 Retraits over the catches. It finished third at the time of the vote in 2005 but first at the time of the vote in 2006. Its two selections for the trophy Cy Young were unanimous.

Professional path

Beginnings

Santana began its career with Twins of Minnesota in 2000. It made 30 appearances, including 5 like launcher therefore. It recorded only 5 decisions, 2 gained for 3 lost. In 2001 it made only 15 appearances, 1 gained for 0 lost. 2002 was its best season with an average of deserved points lower than 3,00, but in 27 appearances it gained only 8 parts, for 6 lost. It exceeded this season in 2003 with 12 victories and although it began only 18 parts. Its average of deserved points was 3,07.

2004

Santana has only but 7 victories for 6 defeats until the match of stars. But after the match of stars, it gained 13 parts for 0 lost. Especially it had 20 lost victories for 6, 265 withdrawals on the catches and an average of 2,61. All these three statistics were best League, except the number of victories: Curt Schilling had 21 of it. In spite of the number of victories, Santana gained the Trophée Cy Young at the time of a unanimous vote.

2005

Santana gained 16 lost parts for 7, with an average of 2,87: only Kevin Millwood recorded a higher average. It led the American Ligue to the withdrawals on the catches but finished third at the time of the vote for the Trophée Cy Young, the winner being Bartolo Colón Angels of Los Angeles d' Anaheim.

2006

Santana led the league to the withdrawals on the catches, the average of deserved points and finished in equality with Chien Ming Wang with 19 victories. It gained its second trophy Cy Young, and for the second time, unanimously. It carried out the League in 6 categories: launched victories, sleeves, withdrawals on the catches, WHIP, the average of deserved points and average with the stick of the adversaries. By gaining the trophy Cy Young it became the 14th launcher to gain the trophy more once, and 5th having gained it twice unanimously, the others being Roger Clemens, Pedro Martinez and Greg Maddux. Sandy Koufax did it three times.

Eliminatory series

Santana appeared in 11 parts in the eliminatory series since 2000 but gained only one part for 3 lost, with an average of 3,97 which is higher than that of the regular season. It made only 5 appearances like launcher therefore.
