Joel Gion

Joel Gion (born in 1971) is a Percussioniste American Rock resulting from the independent movement. He is member of the rock group The Dilettantes based with San Francisco. He is also member of the group The Brian Jonestown Massacre, or he plays tambourine and or he makes " occasionally; backing vocals". He appears in film-documentary the Dig! of 2004, like on the small pocket of the DVD of this film-documentary. A photograph of him younger fact also the cover of the small pocket of the album of The Brian Jonestown Massacres Thank God For Mental Illness ( Remercie God to be a mentally ill ). After Anton Newcombe, it seems the most important member of the group The Brian Jonestown Massacre, because it is him which remained there longest, after the leader Anton Newcombe.

He does not play any more that partially with the The Brian Jonestown Massacre, therefore he did not make all the last round (2006) with this group, and could join it only for the concerts of Rennes and Rouen. In addition to the tambourine, he plays in particular of the Maracas, and, according to him, contributes much to the ideas of writings of the pieces of the group.
