Joe Lee Wilson

Joe Lee Wilson is a Chanteur American, born the December 22nd 1935 with Bristow, Oklahoma.

Biography

It begins the Piano and the Chant at the five years age, in a church Baptist. At eleven years, it joined two of his brothers with Los Angeles. It decides to become Chanteur of Jazz, in spite of the disapproval of his parents. It returns to the academy in 1954, but as there is only classical music with the program, it chooses to continue its studies in “Los Angeles City College”. The evening, it makes the Bœuf in the “Fiddler' S Zanzibar”, a club of Santa Monica. It settles then with San Francisco and, in the “Jimbo' S Bop City”, makes the Bœuf with the musicians of passage downtown: Miles Davis, Elvin Jones, Art Blakey, etc.
After a stay with the Mexico, it settles with New York in 1962. In 1968, it signs at Columbia at the conclusion of a contest of which him and Sly and the Family Stone are finalists. It records two 45 turns. During the Seventies, it is in the middle of “Loft Scene” and opens its own club, Ladie' S Fort. In parallel, it belongs to “Attica Blues Band” of archie Shepp. It settles in France in 1977. Since, it shares its time between Paris, Brighton (the United Kingdom) and the Japan. In France, it occurs primarily with Kirk Lightsey and the Spirit off Life Ensemble.
Joe Lee Wilson is a marvellous improviser with the hot, flexible and powerful voice, at the same time as fantastic a showman, quite as convincing in the Jazz as in the Blues and the Gospel.
