Joe Bossano
Joseph John Bossano known under the name of Joe Bossano , is a politician of Gibraltar, and the chief of the Parti member of the Labor Party-Socialist Gibraltar. He was the Prime Minister March 25th 1988 with the May 17th 1996. Since, he is the chief of the opposition to the Parliament.
Bossano was a trade unionist who began his political career with the party: integration with Great Britain, for lequelle it was elected member of the Parliament in 1972. It left the IWBP in 1975 to form the democratic movement of Gibraltar, which later became the socialist Workers party of Gibraltar.
Its position towards the sovereignty of the Spain (employing the slogan " Give Spain No Hope" : Do not give any hope to Spain) because of the tensions between the governments of London and Madrid, although as a Prime Minister it maintained good relationships with the Spanish politicians at the local level. Bossano also supervised the economic change, resulting from the decline of the traditional sectors employing of the people like defense, and the creation of an economy private based on finances and tourism.
