Jodoigne

Jodoigne (in Dutch Geldenaken , in Walloon Djodogne ) is a French-speaking city of Belgium located in Walloon region in the Province of the Walloon Brabant.

The town of Jodoigne is crossed by the Grande Gette.

It is located at some 45 kilometers in the east of Brussels, not far from the important highway and railway axis connecting the capital to Liege.

The villages which composes the entity are: Piétrain, Saint-Jean-Geest, Saint-Remy-Geest, Zetrud-Lumay, Dongelberg, Mélin, Lathuy, Jodoigne-Sovereign and Jauchelette.

The town of Jodoigne is twinned at the town of Saint-Pierre-on-Divine, in the Apple-brandy (France).

Cité de la Gadale

As in much of other cities and villages, of many women were shown of sorcery and were condemned to roughing-hew. In 1629, not less than 9 unhappy were thus burned alives. These events were at the origin of the legend of Gadale, which left in Jodoigne the nickname of City of Gadale
