Jock Callander

Jock Darren Callander (born the April 23rd 1961 with Regina in the Saskatchewan) is a former professional player of Hockey.

Career

Jock Callander had a short career in the National league of hockey and forever taken part in a fishing out. It will have to play for the Penguins de Pittsburgh and for the Lightning de Tampa Bay but one remembers especially him for his career in the international Ligue of hockey (LIH) with the Lumberjacks de Muskegon.

Callander began its career while playing for the Pats of Regina as from 1978-79. The first two seasons at the Stalemates are unspecified but at the time of the two last, it registers 146 goals and 343 points (better meter of the Western Hockey League - Trophée Bob Clarke). In spite of that, it will be never fished out to play in the National league of hockey and will sign as a free agent for the Blues of Saint-Louis. Final, he will not play either for the Blues and will play in place in minor leagues (central Ligue of hockey or in the international League of hockey).

It is in the LIH that it will sign its first professional contract. One of large the moment of its career will remain the season 1991-92, where after having played all the season with the Lumberjacks de Muskegon, it will join the Penguins de Pittsburgh for the eliminatory Séries and to gain with the fellow-members of Mario Lemieux the second Coupe Stanley of the frankness.

In spite of that, at the end of the summer, Penguins do not make him sign a contract and it finds free agent and joined the Lightning de Tampa Bay. Unfortunately for him, he does not manage to be made a place in the team and will play only eight matches before joining the LIH and the Lumberjacks of Cleveland.

Major the part of its career in the LIH, it will have passed it with his/her best friend, Dave Michayluk, which will finish better marker of the history of the LIH (and this thanks to a great number of master keys of Callander).

Jock Callander takes its retirement at the end of the season 1999-2000 and becomes assistant trainer of Lumberjacks before making in the same way for one season for the Aeros of Houston.
