Joaquín Nin-Culmell

Joaquín Nin-Culmell (Berlin, September 5th 1908 - Berkeley, California, January 14th 2004) was a Compositeur and American Pianiste of cuban origin .

Joaquín Nin-Culmell was the son of the cuban type-setter Joaquín Nin and of the singer Rosa Culmell, and the brother of the writer Anaïs Nin. Early musician under the cane of his parents, it had later as Masters Manuel of Falla, Paul Braud, Ricardo Viñes and Alfred Cortot (piano) and Paul Dukas (composition). Its work, heritage of a cubano-Spanish culture, comprises many parts for piano of which the cycle of the forty-eight Tonadas (1956 - 1961) and twelve cuban Danses (1989), of the popular songs for voice and piano, of symphonic works of which the Symphonie of the Mysteries (1992), a concerto for piano, another for violoncello, of the chamber music and the sacred music.
