Joaquín Lavín
Joaquín Jose Lavín Infante , (born the October 23rd 1953 with Santiago of Chile), is a Politician Chile in, member of the Independent democratic union (UDM) and old near to Augusto Pinochet.
He was mayor of Santiago of Chile of 1992 with 2002.
In 1999, he is candidate with the presidential election. Qualified the first turn (47,52% of the voices), it fails of accuracy the second turn with 48,69% vis-a-vis Ricardo Lagos.
Once again candidate in 2005, it is preceded as of the first turn with 23,25% of the voices by his challenger of right-hand side Sebastián Piñera (25,48%) which faced Michelle Bachelet with the second turn in January 2006.
Beaten, Lavin immediately gave its support for Piñera.
