Joanna Russ
Joanna Russ was born the February 22nd 1937. She grows in the Bronx. Impassioned Botanical and of Biology, it receives in 1953 a scientific price. She undertakes studies of Letters and obtains diplomas with the Université Cornell in 1957 and in School off Drama of the Université of Yale in 1960.
While teaching the English literature in various universities, she writes and publishes news and science-fiction novels. She published inter alia Pique-nique with the Paradise (1968), Other Half of the man ( The Female Man , 1975), Alyx (1976), We Who Are Butt To (1977), Of people (extra) ordinary (1983), The Hidden Side off the Moon (1987). She is very close to Auteurs of science fiction like Ursula K. Guin or Samuel Delany.
Feminist and homosexual, it is the author of many tests, like How to Suppress Women' S Writing or Magic Mommas, Tremblig Sisters, Puritans and Perverts . She also wrote many theoretical and critical articles on the science fiction, partially gathered in To Write like has Woman, Essays in Feminism and Science-Fiction (1995).
