Joan Prim

Gift Joan Prim, Count de Reus, Viscount of Bruch, Marquis of Castillejos - in Catalan: Joan Prim I Prats, count de Reus I vescomte del Bruc, marks dels Castillejos , in Spanish: Juan Prim there Prats, cop of Reus there vizconde del Bruch, marked los Castillejos - (born the December 12th 1814 with Reus and died the December 30th 1870 with Madrid) was a general and Spanish statesman of the 19th century which played a leading role during the wars carlists .

Biography

Grandson of a notary and wire of the lieutenant-colonel Pau Prim who will resume the study of his father after the end of his military career, it had Alejandro García for schoolmaster.

He enlists in 1834 in the " riflemen of Isabelle II " , an irregular force of “ Miquelet S ” which mitigated the insufficiency of regular troops and to which its first chief, a Valencian named Miquelot de Prats gave its name. The miquelets had been dissolved after the Traité of Ryswick but in Catalogne, of the snipers and the agitation or army corps improvised in time of war preserved this name. It is made lieutenant-colonel at the time of the first war carlist.
