Joan Baez
Joan Chandos Báez is a American Chanteuse of music Folk, born with New York the January 9th 1941.
Joan Baez is the voice of the Années 1960. This Soprano, often called “the queen of the Folk”, “the Madonna of the poor people”, imposed Bob Dylan and its songs on the American public like with the whole world.
By combining its engagement with the vision of Dylan, the ballades anglo - Irish adapted in American Folk to the Gospel, and its own roots with those of the cultures of planet, Joan Baez became a myth.
Concerned of its role of artist engaged to deliver a message of peace and of freedom, against the war and the injustice, it multiplies the appearances all around planet, of Woodstock to the Fête of Humanity. A great concert on December 24th, 1980 (Christmas Eve) on the square of Notre-Dame de Paris (25000 spectators), with for final Blowin' in the Wind taken again by the organ and the bells of the cathedral, this concert was dedicated to the children of the world, free concert of which rebroadcast rights and the films went to three different organizations of which one is Humanitas (and a memorable concert Place of the Harmony to Paris in July 1983), steps for the civic rights on Washington to the demonstrations antisegregationnists of the Alabama, under the cheers of the festival of Newport as under the bombs of Hanoï. And more recently (the December 13rd 2005) with the demonstrators anti Capital punishment in front of the prison where Stanley Tookie Williams was held which was finally carried out. It still did not give up the combat these last years when its single voice accompanied by its guitar carries out it in Europe of the East, with the the Middle East, in South America, etc
Implied in many humanitarian organizations she is always requested.
