Joakim Noah

Joakim Simon Noah (born the February 25th 1985 with New York) is a player of Basket-ball of French nationality, American and Swedish. He played within the team of the University of Florida (the Gators ) with which he was university double champion NCAA. He measures 2,11 m for 106 kilos and evolves/moves at the station of pivot/strong winger. Graduate of Lawrenceville, it was in third year ( Junior ).

The June 28th 2007, Joakim Noah is chosen by the Chicago bulldozers, the old club of legendary the Michael Jordan, in 9th position of the Draft NBA 2007, which was held with the Madison Square Garden New York.

Biography

He is the son of the French tennis player Yannick Noah and Cécilia Rhode who was Miss Sweden in 1978.

During the season 2004-2005, it turned to an average of 3,9 points and 2,7 rebounds for 10,3 minutes of play per match on average, barred by the pivot David Lee, future player of the New York Knicks.

Always little known, it explodes during the season 2005-2006. It gained with its team the tournament of the Southeastern Conference and gains the finale of the Final Furnace NCAA 2006 vis-a-vis UCLA and is named better player of the tournament (16,1 points with 55%,9,5 rebounds, 4,8 counter).

Finally, it cumulated 16 points (7/9, including 5 Dunk S), 9 rebounds, 3 master keys decisive and 6 counter. The preceding record of counter NCAA finally was of 4 (Loren Woods, Arizona, 2001).

Its personal records are of 37 points and 17 rebounds (on December 17th, 2006 against the rival university Florida A&M).

The French federation of basketball, which regards it as a good hope, probably will set in motion a procedure so that it can play in team of France (he still has the choice between the teams American, Swedish, French, and Cameronian)

Announced in 2006 in the first 10 choices of the Draft NBA, it chooses to remain in Florida one year additional, like its fellow-members Al Horford and Corey Brewer, and to defend its academic qualification. Indeed, it felt too just technically and physically to pass professional. The last player to refuse the advances of the professional league was Miles Simon, MOP 1998.

At the time of the season 2007, Gators set out again with the same team. With a new victory in the Final Furnace, they realize doubled, exploit which had not been carried out any more since 1992 by Duke with Grant Hill. This victory is obtained with same the five of departure as the year 2006, exploit which had never yet been carried out.

Joakim Noah announced its wish to take part in the Draft NBA and is chosen by the Chicago bulldozers in ninth choice of the Draft NBA 2007 which is held with the Madison Square Garden with New York on June 28th, 2007. It signed a two year old contract, with an option for a third and fourth year, on July 27th, 2007. It will touch 3,69 million dollars over these two years. However, its beginnings at the bulldozers are difficult, in particular because of a bad departure in championship of the team and poor personal statistics due to its weak time of play.
