Joachim Yhombi-Opango

The General Jacques Joachim Yhombi-Opango was president of the Congo of 1977 to 1979.

He is the first general of Congo after the death of the Commander Marien Ngouabi.

During the gathering of the Military committee of Party (CMP) in 1977, it seizes the power and tries to moderate the economy of the country.

Biography

It is only sons of his mother, Maman Mbondo.

After the assassination of Marien Ngouabi in 1977, he becomes President of the Republic.

Enthusiastic servant of the state, it against is clandestiné and healthiness in full downtown area of Brazzaville.

February 5th, 1979, at the time of ressemblement of the CMP, it is relieved by the party and Denis Sassou Nguesso seizes the power.

It remained of 1979 to 1992 under house arrest in a district of Brazzaville, “the city of the 17”, in Mfilou, then released at the time of the national conference which will preach the democracy in Congo-Brazzaville.

It loses his relative in 1997 with the 5 month old necks of civil war. His/her parents would have been killed by the Cobras, militia of president Denis Sassou Nguesso.
