Joachim Kühn
Joachim Kühn , is a German musician of Jazz, born the March 15th 1944 with Leipzig (Germany).
In its youths, Joachim Kühn starts a career of pianste in concert before being interested more and more in the jazz, under the influence of his/her older brother, the clarinettist Rolf Kühn. It begins an international career with the Jazz Jamboree of Warsaw in 1963, and after a first very influential trio on the scene of the East-German jazz (with in particular Klaus Koch), it moves in West Germany in 1966, then in 1968 with Paris. He plays then of the Free jazz (with a saxohone viola) then, in the Années 1970 is interested in the jazz rock'n'roll with for example Jean-Luc Ponty, Philip Catherine, Zbigniew Seifert or Aldo Romano.
Kühn belongs to the rare pianists with whom Ornette Coleman played. The album Colors recorded in public in Leipzig, is the witness.
Its virtuosity with the piano, never free because put very whole at the service of the expressivity, is expressed readily within the framework of trios: with the bassite Jean-François Jenny-Clark and the beater Daniel Humair, but also more recently with Rabih Abou-Khalil and Jarrod Cagwin, with Majid Bekkas and Ramon Lopez…
In 2005, an album solo Piano works - Allegro long-lived watch of Joachim Kühn a less known facet, that of the pianist mozartien with a remarkable improvisation on the concerto in of Mozart.
