Jizya

The jizya is the tax which were to pay the pubescent men whose ground Dhimmi S alive of Islam and who were largely majority in the territories lately conquered by Islam. This tax relatively weak compared to the legal tax was imposed to the Moslems only and belonging to the five pillars of Islam: the Zakat which was withdrawn on the saving, the cattle, the ores and the goods.

This tax of Capitation finds its base in the Coran:

Made the war with those which do not believe in a God nor in last day, which does not look at as not defended what God and his apostle defended, and with those among the men of the Writings which do not profess the true religion. Make them the war until they pay the tribute of their own hands and which they subjected.

Some Oulémas impose however the jizya on all the not-Moslems, and thus defend to kill them apart from time of war. The usual attitude of the dhimmis is, with more or less long run, the sincere conversion or connect, which makes it possible to escape this tax. It is one of the reasons for which all the countries subjected to the Chariah see their nonMoslem population disappearing, decreasing by as much the tax re-entries, and encouraging with new conquests.

The Indian case

In India, the emperor moghol Akbar, in a preoccupation of tolerance and a harmony Jizya removed, founded by the Sultanat of Delhi, in 1564, but its back grandson Aurangzeb restores it in 1679. It was taken on the Hindu which were largely majority, and polytheists thus idolâtres, in the Empire moghol.
