Jimmy Somerville

Jimmy Somerville , born the June 22nd 1961, is a singer pop Scottish.

He was success in the Années 1980 with the groups new wave Bronski Beat and The Communards before starting a career solo.

Biography

Somerville was born and grew with Glasgow. It has a style of song perched very high (falsetto or falsetto voice), and is openly homosexual. It is also a man of the left, militant for the defense of the Human rights.

He has Co-founded the group synthé Bronski Beat in 1983, which started to garner the hits in the British charts. Their larger hit, Smalltown Boy , which reached number 3, was written in connection with the persecution of a young gay in a provincial town, which, at the time, was inconceivable.

He left Bronski Beat in 1985 and formed The Communards, with Richard Coles, a traditional Pianiste of formation. They had several hits, including a version of Don' T leave me this way of Thelma Houston which remained four weeks number 1 in the charts, and became the largest sale of individual with the the United Kingdom in 1986. It also took part in the chorus S on the version of the Fine Young Cannibals of Suspicious Mind , which was classified in the signal the 10 U.K.

The Communards separated in 1988 and Somerville launched its career solo. It had several hits between 1989 and 1991 and also sang on the project Band Aid at the end of 1989. But after the exit of its album Run For Coils , Somerville left the front of the scene and did not record during several years.

It returned in 1995 with CD named Dare To Love . Another album, heading Manages The Damage, left in 1999, and Root Beer appeared one year later. More recently, its fourth album solo, directed dance left in 2005.

Somerville also continued a career of actor, appearing in the film '' Orlando '', carried out by Sally Potter, according to Virginia Woolf, in the film Looking for Langston of Isaac Julien in 1998, and in the episode Girltown of the serial of Science-fiction: Lexx.
