Jim Ryun

James Ronald " Jim" Ryun , born the April 29th 1947 with Wichita (Kansas), is old a Athlète and from now on politicking American. He is member of the Republican party and since 1997, he belongs to the Chambre of the representatives of the United States of America

Still studying in Wichita East Highschool, Ryun ran one mile (1609 m) in less than four minutes. In 1964, with the Olympic Games of Tokyo, it qhalifie for the semi-finals on 1.500 Mr.

With the Olympic Games of summer of 1968 of Mexico City, it gained the money medal over 1.500 m, beaten by the Kenya N Kip Keino. Four years later, it fell at the time of the series on 1.500 Mr.

It held many world records. In 1967, it thus lowered the world records of the mile to 3 ' 51" 1, a record which held during almost eight years. The same year, it improved the world records of the 1.500 m with 3 ' 33" 1.

This record was remarkable by the way in which it realized with very unequal rates/rhythms which are the worst manner to run quickly. He traversed the first 300 meters in 45" 5, then it accelerated to run the last 1.200 meters into 2 ' 46" 6. It was speculated that if it had run with a constant and optimal rate/rhythm of the beginning to the end, he would have established a time from approximately 3 ' 30" or 3 ' 31" (at the time, it was on an ashy track) which was actually reached only in the Années 1980 (on synthetic tracks).
