Jim Leighton

James “Jim” Leighton , born the July 24th 1958 with Johnstone, is old a Football or, Goalkeeper, Scottish.

He adds up 91 selections in team of Scotland, which makes of it the Scottish guard more wrapped and the second, any station confused, behind Kenny Dalglish. He had the privilege to dispute three world cups (1982, 1986 and 1990), including two last as a holder.

He also took part in the world cup 1998 in France, making of him the oldest player of the competition.

Leighton knew three principal clubs during its career: Aberdeen, Manchester United and Hibernian.

In Aberdeen, under the direction of Alex Ferguson, it gained two titles of champion of Scotland in 1984 and 1985 and especially a cut of the winners of cuts in 1983, against the Real Madrid.

With Manchester United, which it joined in 1988, it succeeds less better since as of the second season, it loses its place of holder to the profit of Sealey.

It will spend the ten last years of its career to Hibernian. It will be withdrawn in 2000, with more than forty years, after a final of cut of Scotland lost 4-0 vis-a-vis the Glasgow Rangers.

Leighton is today trainer of the guards with Aberdeen.
