Jim Keltner

Jim Keltner (born on April 27th, 1942 with Tulsa, (Oklahoma) is a considered beater, having collaborated with many artists.

Keltner is very known for its appearances on the albums solos of 3 of the Beatles, often working with George Harrison, John Lennon (Plastic Ono Band with Yoko Ono), and Ringo Starr.

In the Eighties, Keltner turns with the All-Starr Band . He also plays of the battery on the 2 albums of the Traveling Wilburys, (what was worth to him the nickname of sixth Wilbury .)

As percussionnist, Jim Keltner started in the jazz, with Gary Lewis. In addition to its work with Beatles, he also, worked with Jerry Garcia, Eric Clapton, Joe Cocker, the Rolling Stones, Ron Wood, Bill Wyman, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Brian Wilson, Bill Frisell, Neil Young, Crowded House, Fiona Apple, Elvis Costello, Ry Cooder, Pink Floyd, Steely daN, Rufus Wainwright, Simon and Garfunkel, among others. He is reproduced on the album Anticipation of Carly Simon (1971).

Specialized in Rythm' N Blues, it would have influenced Jeff Porcaro and Danny Seraphine of Chicago. Examples of its style of battery can be found in Jealous Guy on Imagine John Lennon, the individual hit Dreamweaver of Gary Wright, Josie on Aja of Steely daN, Lay Down Sally on Slowhand of Eric Clapton.

In 1987, Jim, associated to the guitarist Ry Cooder, and to the bass player Nick Lowe come to play on the abum Bring The Family of John Hiatt. Five years later, the 4 musicians meet within the group Little Village, on the album éponyme.
