Jim Breen

James William Breen known as Jim Breen (born in 1947) is a former professor of the Université Monash in Australia, with the retirement since 2003. It is more known for its implication in the project of dictionary of Japanese EDICT.

Studies and career

After a license in Mathematical, Breen joined the Ministry for the Stations like apprentice programmer in 1968. After some to and from between this ministry and that of defense, he becomes director of design of networks. During this period having made a success of a MBA, it is persuaded that a management position is not only it seeks. In 1983, it thus joined a team of consultants in data processing, but this stressing work which holds it distant from its family brings it to consider an academic career. In 1985, he thus becomes professor with the Chisholm Institute off Technology , then directing of the department of robotics and digital technology of the Institute.

In 1990, the Institute amalgamates with the Université Monash, it then becomes director of the department of the numerical systems. In 1997, it gives its position of director to David Abramson and is devoted entirely to teaching and research. In 1998, the departments are reorganized and three of them of which his amalgamate it to become the School off Computer Science & Software Engineering .

Teaching

He taught primarily in the field of the communications and numerical, giving computer courses and systems to the numerical communication but first-year students, mainly on the level of the Master. From December 2000 at June 2001, he was professor invited to the Institute of languages and cultures of Asia and Africa of the Université of Tokyo to the Japan.
