Jiří Novotný (hockey)
Jiří Novotný (born the August 12th 1983 with České Budějovice in Czechoslovakia today town of Czech Republic) is a professional player of Hockey.
Career in club
It begins its career in 1997 in the junior team from HC Hradec Králové. The following season, it joined the club of its birthplace, HC České Budějovice but always in the leagues of less than 18 years. It makes its beginnings in a senior team into 1999-2000 pennies the colors of HC Slezan Opava in the second Czech division, the 1.liga .In 2000-01, it signs a contract with its birthplace for two seasons whereas during the summer 2001, it takes part in the fishing out of entry in the National league of hockey. It is then selected in first round by the Sabers of Buffalo as a 22e choice. There did not join therefore the LNH but remains still a season in its country.
In 2002, it joined the American Ligue of hockey with the team affiliated to the frankness from the Sabers, the Americans of Rochester. He plays three seasons in the LAH with Americans and gains the championship of the regular season in 2005 but Americans do not manage to gain the Coupe Calder (they are eliminated with the second turn).
It makes its beginnings in the LNH on January 12th 2006 against the Coyotes of Phoenix and on February 27th 2007 it is exchanged in return of Dainius Zubrus to the Capitals of Washington, is left free at the end of the season and sign a two year old contract with the Blue Jackets de Columbus on July 3rd, 2007.
