Jewish Lobby

The expression “ Jewish lobby ” translation literal of English is in French completely pejorative. Jewish lobby , the expression is used with the the United States, to seek to qualify the weight of the Jewish community in political decisions. It is also employed by political Islamism and part of the extreme left (in particular in Russia). It is used in a disqualifying way and generally gathers the phantasms Antisémite S. However, the Jewish lobby in the history strongly influenced the political decisions, for example at the time of the Déclaration Balfour of 1917 which allowed the establishment of a Jewish national hearth in Palestine.

With the the United States however, the expression seems allowed, unlike France, if one judges some by the books employing this term (cf Bibliographie). It remains very polemical.

The myth of the “world octopus”

These allegations were highly disputed by friends of the former president, and by his biographer Jean Lacouture.

Raymond Barre, during an interview on France Culture diffused on March 1st, 2007 states to have been victim, with the autumn 1980, of “a campaign made by the Jewish Lobby related to the left”, then that “the Jewish lobby - not only in what concerns to me - is able to assemble operations which are unworthy and I make a point of saying it publicly. ”

The organizations pro-Israelis and the US government

The users of the expression, in the United States, gather sometimes under the term “Jewish Lobby”, the actions of support of the organizations pro-Israelis and pro-Jewish on the US government, and their support at the time of the presidential elections.

The AIPAC (which gathers several pro-Israel lobbies) describes itself like the “American Lobby Pro-Israel”, and has the main aim of influencing the American policy in favor of Israel in the conflicts with the Middle-East.
