Jeufosse
Jeufosse is a common French, located in the department of the Yvelines and the area Île-de-France. Member of the community of communes of the doors of the island of France.
Its inhabitants is called Jeufossois.
Geography
The commune of Jeufosse is on left bank of the the Seine, in the west of the Mantes-the-Pretty Bonnières-on-Seine and approximately 16 km in the west of .The communes bordering are Port-Villez in the North-West, Blaru in the west, Villeneuve-in-Chevrie in the south, the Bonnières-on-Seine in the west and Bennecourt in north.
The communal territory extends on the plate dominating the Seine as well as a narrow band along southern bank from the river, the inclined part between the two formant a vast wooded slope.
The commune comprises several hamlets of which the Hedge of Béranville, Coursières, Habits.
The road service road is ensured by RN 13 and RN 15. The railway line Paris it Havre crosses the commune, but without station nor halt.
History
The site is occupied since the Neolithic time .At the 9th century, the islands of the the Seine in front of Jeufosse become a den for the Normands which carry out raids on the river upstream.
The soil was attached to the seigniory of Blaru until the Révolution.
Economy
- Common agricultural: field crop, truck farming, breeding.
- part of the industrial park of the Bonnières-on-Seine, in edge of the Seine, is in the commune.
Culture
- Church Our-Lady-of-the-Sea: old Vault become parish church out of calcareous stone and hardcores of Flint, carrying a square pinnacle with the top of the entry. The current building goes back to 1855. It is a place of pilgrimage devoted to the Virgin Mary.
