Jesus Alemañy
Jesus Alemañy was born the October 14th 1962 in Guanabacoa, Havana, Cuba. It started to study the Musique and the Solfège at the age of 13 with the Conservatoire Guillermo Tomas of Guanabacoa, specializing in the trumpet. Three years afterwards, it was invited to join the group Sierra Maestra. He played with the group during more than 10 years, recording eleven albums and travelling in the whole world.
In 1992, Jesus Alemañy decided to leave Cuba to continue its musical career with London, after being married with a British, Susie. In December 1994, it organized a descarga (jam session) with Paris in homage to the conguero Patato Váldez. Jesus Alemañy was joined on this project by Alfredo Rodríguez, the large cuban pianist residing at Paris. Joe Boyd with the head of Hannibal discs was there and he asked for Alemañy of produce a jam session similar to Havana: ¡ Cubanismo! The sessions of recording took place with the studios Egrem with Havana, joined by larger musicians of the country: Orlando " Maraca" Valle, Miguel " Anga" Diaz and Carlos Alvarez, Touched Güines, Yosvany Terry and Carlito Puerto, wire of the large cuban bass player Carlos del Puerto, Louis Alemañy and Louis Alemañy Jr, (uncle and cousin of Jesus, respectively.)
The disc left the February 27th 1996 at Hannibal/Rykodisc, followed by a historical round of the United States.
Reencarnación left on September 15th, 1998. On this album the pianist Nachito Herrera replaced Alfredo Rodriguez, and there is more song (with a new singer: Rollo Martinez).
In November 1999, Alemañy and members of ¡ Cubanismo! left to the New-Orleans to join the producer Joe Boyd and some of the best musicians of the city to carry out the project fatty Tuesday Mambo. This album, their fourth, left the August 22nd 2000 (first album with English words).
